Congratulations to the USA Women's Soccer team! What a tremendous success! Men and women around the country cheered them on to victory and are still celebrating their accomplishment....but, we all know that women in sports are paid for their work at the same, if not less than women in business are. These champion women were just paid 22% less than their male counterparts...and really much less than that as the advertising endorsements that will be offered will be at a discounted price also......where's the outrage?

Come on America! I know we have other problems that take up your time and that women's sports are not as well viewed as male sports, but when will we realize that gender equality matters? We can't keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result--- yes, this is the definition of insanity! We must find our way to equal pay for men and women who do equal work. Of course, I can hear the naysayers that women's sports don't bring in equal revenues to male sporting events, but, it is really the chicken or egg question. If we don't value women sports the same as male sports we will never get to equity. Deciding to pay women the same as men leads to valuing their worth equally....right?
I work with women entrepreneurs and women in business and I tell them all that if they don't value themselves enough to pay themselves or ask for equal pay, they can never expect to receive equality. Yes, it is that simple. We must all value ourselves and believe in our own self- worth if we expect others to value us.
I loved watching the U.S. Women's Soccer team lead the way to victory never seeming to doubt their ability. And, every day I work with women who have so much talent that they too are leading the way for other women to follow. But, it is time to stand strong for pay equity and say enough is enough. This country and this world could not operate without the talents and skills of the women who participate in it. It is time for America to make sure all women are paid fairly and equally to their male counterparts. Please let me know that you believe as I do that nothing else is more important that this for the next generation of women and for women around the world.
