Once upon a time there lived a little girl who dreamed of changing the world.
Her mother told her she could do anything she put her mind to. Her daddy took her to his job and introduced her as someone who had something important to say. She didn't know quite what it was she wanted to say, but she learned that when she was ready the world would be ready to listen.
The years went by and the little girl became a young woman, got a job, married a handsome young man and had a beautiful baby boy. She continued to work and learn about the world and dream about changing it.
She spoke out as a mother, and as a wife, and probably too often as an employee. She tried and succeeded in many industries, working for others, always believing she could do it better. She loved her husband. She loved her son. She loved to work, but she yearned to find her passion and change the world.
Her dad was an entrepreneur. Her brother was an entrepreneur. She knew she could do it too. Entrepreneurship was in her DNA. She had learned from her mom the importance of caring for a family: her staff, her vendors, and her customers. She had learned from her dad the importance of networking and staying in touch with connections throughout the years, all with the attitude of service. "You can learn something from everyone who meet. Treat everyone as you would like to be treated," her dad said. "There are no unimportant people."
She learned early on that life is a journey, and it is a mistake to believe that we can judge others by where they are on their trip.
Finally, she visualized her passion in the creation of a newspaper profiling women in business....written for, by and about women in business. Her experience in a variety of businesses and women's networking organizations led her to developing a newspaper that would change the world. She found her true voice in sharing her knowledge for what was happening with women in business, law, education, nonprofit, healthcare, real estate, architecture, retail, financial services and more. She tapped into her sales skills, leadership ability, and networking talents. She believed in herself and her concept and she succeeded.
She never forgot for a moment her most important passions as a wife and mother, but the business fulfilled her need to follow her dream.
Every little girl has dreams of her future. So, this generation of women has a responsibility of sharing their journey so the path for every little girl is as expansive as their imagination.
Oh, and the little girl who dreamed of changing the world? She sold her business, celebrated her son's wedding and lived happily ever after with her handsome husband.
