As a regular blogger I have been missing in action for more than a week. I was taken down, literally down, by my computer.

Now, perhaps, male entrepreneurs get as frustrated with their technology as women entrepreneurs. But, in my experience it is the woman small business owner that loses it big time when her computer goes AWOL (away without  letting her know what the HE_ _  to do about it.

I digress... first I calmly press ctrl alt delete... nothing happens... then I frantically press ctrl alt delete 20 more times.... eventually I get 48 task manager messages...yup that will do it. Then, I reach down and look for the button to turn the thing off. Nope, won't turn off. OK, let's just unplug it...right? With all those wires I have no clue as to which goes where... I begin unplugging, the room goes dark... yes, wrong plug. Lucky, for me I am an amateur electrician so I go down to the basement and flip the main electrical switch. Oops, forgot I didn't bring my flashlight. The good news... at least I know that damn computer is off ..... so is everything else in the house.

Well, all I need to do now is flip the switch again and I'm back in business... right?

Well, not exactly. Once I get back into the office the thing-a-ma-jig (I guess Verizon calls it a router) doesn't look like it is lit up correctly. No problem there - I have Verizon's repair number right here on my desk. OK, you know where I'm going with this.......2 hours later I realize I unplugged the router while looking for the computer plug. That nice guy Vincent at Verizon figured that out in 120 minutes. The green lights are flashing once again... all I need to do now is press the button on the computer and I'm back in business.

VOILA! Good to go. It's booted up and asks me if I'd like to return to my previous session!

Computers - they have a great sense of humor.

The moral to the story is I've learned that as a small business owner, and a woman who likes control, technology is not my expertise.....I am a business coach not a computer genius (or even an electrician). When it's time to get technology advice consult an expert. Learning to delegate control and talent is important for all small business people.

As the old adage says "time is money"!

My new computer will be here next week, and in the meantime.. I have work to do on the toilet!
