Every day presents a new opportunity to choose. Some entrepreneurs choose success, too many choose failure.

Women entrepreneurs, particularly, are susceptible to choosing failure. The question is why?

The answer is expectation.

Recently, I have been testing both male and female entrepreneurs with a behavior and attitude assessment.  The results demonstrate that gender doesn't have any affect on attitude and self direction, but may have a small impact on expectation.

Measuring a test taker's level of expectation reveals his/her potential for seizing opportunities or finding bad luck. In other words, the lower the expectation score the more likelihood that the entrepreneur will choose failure. When we don't expect to win we don't.

Women entrepreneurs are told daily in the media and from a variety of so-called business advisors that their path to success is riddle with land mines. And, even though, more and more women are choosing entrepreneurship, the stories of women small business owners making over $1 million in annual revenues remains small. Clearly, with the evidence of the hard road ahead we can't blame women entrepreneurs for having lower expectations than their male counterparts? Or can we?

You bet we can!

Expectation is all about the possible - not the probable! Expectation is based on the belief we have in ourself to achieve not in what others believe or have data on.

Whether it's in business, sports or life, we must expect the sun to shine and for a new opportunity to reveal itself around every corner and behind every door. You can't climb a mountain if you don't expect to see the ground from the top. You can't build a company if you don't expect success.

Most obstacles in life are of our own making. Women entrepreneurs must stop listening and believing in the naysayers and have a mindset of winning.

Be a person of action. Seize the moment and choose success.
