Business Women (Entrepreneurs) Must Blog

I learned at a very young age the importance of getting visibility in business. My dad was a big guy, with a big voice, and when he spoke everyone listened. However, it wasn't just because his voice was commanding that people took notice. He had a special knack of drawing everyone in the room to him by making them feel included in what he was talking about. For example, even when he was having a business meeting he would make sure that everyone in the room knew the server's first name, his secretary's first name, and YES, his daughter's - ME - my first name. Everyone was always included when my dad took the stage.

I've spent my career attracting media attention in print, radio and TV, but now I've made the conscious decision that I must master the blogosphere. People who know me will tell you that I have an answer for everything...but that self confidence did not come from sitting on the sidelines quietly while others shared their opinions. Being a thought leader means one must believe that they have the credentials and experience to state an opinion and perspective on the subject. This is one area where AGE does matter. One must live life in order to have the experience and awareness of the who, what, why, where and how of situations. It starts by being a student of the subject...the subject is your work.

Women in business, today, are more likely to be highly educated than ever before in our history. And, it's not just the book learning I'm talking about when I say educated. With greater opportunities available, women have become the explorers in America. We embrace our many choices and engage a full and diverse life with education, family, friends, travel, careers and decades of transitions.  Along the way, we hone our opinions and hopefully build our self confidence. Now, it's time to share that authority on the world wide web.

So, pick up your megaphone (figuratively) and start blogging!
