If you have to ask who Katniss Everdeen is than this blog is definitely not for you!

Katniss is a fictional woman more focused on winning than any other female character displayed in decades of books and Hollywood movies -- the title is The Hunger Games. Although this movie is being marketed to the teen market, I found symbolism for the working woman emulate from the screen.

First, Katniss puts herself on the line in order to save her sister. She believes in her survival skills and in herself. A successful woman entrepreneur will bet on herself above all odds. It is her confidence that keeps her going.

Second, she turns to her mentor, Haymitch (played by Woody Harrelson), and demonstrates that she is the one he should bet on. He gives her the strategies she needs to win and stay alive. Finally, Katniss doesn't allow the thoughts of failure get to her. She says, "Panic begins to set in...but I can't let my fear show. At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead. The hard thing is finding the courage to do it." A relentless woman entrepreneur keeps one step ahead of her competition. She must know what her competition is doing in order to differentiate her business.
