Starting a business is one of life's momentous decisions whether you are male or female. Women, however, typically have greater obstacles to conquer before and after making the decision and with following through on the commitment.

Every business should, NO MUST, have a written business plan before being launched. Yes, every entrepreneur has heard this over and over again yet continues to believe that if (s)he just gets started doing business the business will create itself. WRONG!

The majority of women entrepreneurs begin their businesses because they have passion for what they do and have the desire to control their workplace and worklife. Starting a business is one of the most difficult decisions a woman will make in her life. In the beginning, the business, like a baby, will take 100% of her time, energy and financial resources.

Why are women allowing the media and the political parties to pit working women and stay-at-home-moms against each other?

My entire business career has been built on my acting on my gut instinct. Call it women's intuition, gut instinct, an inner voice, psychic ability or the universe's calling---whatever you call it it has worked for me.

I learned at a very young age the importance of getting visibility in business. My dad was a big guy, with a big voice, and when he spoke everyone listened. However, it wasn't just because his voice was commanding that people took notice. He had a special knack of drawing everyone in the room to him by making them feel included in what he was talking about. For example, even when he was having a business meeting he would make sure that everyone in the room knew the server's first name, his secretary's first name, and YES, his daughter's - ME - my first name. Everyone was always included when my dad took the stage.

We begin with the definition of manic-depression - a mental condition in which a person experiences periods of strong excitement and happiness followed by periods of sadness and depression. Sound familiar?

Starting a business will be the greatest adventure every woman entrepreneur will ever take. It starts with the revelation that she believes enough in herself that she can do it! Day and night, she contemplates the perfect name that will become her dream for her future as an entrepreneur. Once decided, she is off to launch her business. The next step is finding the $$$$$$.
